The Weston A Price Foundation is pretty much out there on the extreme fringe of medical opinion, so I would take whatever they have to say with a huge grain of salt and compare it also with information from more reputable sources.

That being said, the hydrogenated fats in a lot of margarines are pretty awful. There are some margarines, though, like Earth Balance for example, that contain no hydrogenated oils (and unlike dairy butter, no cholesterol).

Yeah, I understand that he is not at all mainstream in his ideas. But he believed that God did not create us to eat all these processed, genetically engineered, refined and industrialized foods.

I think there is a lot of sense to this. If it is something God created--great! eat it! If it is something created in a factory--be careful and read labels.

Did you know that most cereals, like Kraft's Post Selects "promote having 'natural ingredients' when, in fact, the corn used in the cereal is genetically engineered -- made in a lab, not by nature." I want to eat corn cereal, that was from corn grown in a field, and processed without the cancerous preservative BHT (that has been banned in other countries).

Scientists are trying to insert fish DNA into strawberries and tomatoes to make them last better in cold weather!

I know I tend to get carried away, and I am pretty passionate, but I would rather just eat it the way God intended, the way people have done for thousands of years!

Yeah, I know, and you'd probably be horrified to know what they pump into dairy cows to increase production. Earth Balance margarine in particular, though, is made with all non-GMO, non-hydrogenated vegetable oils. That's what I use, in any case.

And if we were to quibble, really, about what God intended for our diets, it's worth pointing out that Adam and Eve were supposedly vegetarian. :)

I posted another comment but it was too silly so I erased it. But yeah, I know what they put in the cows and it does gross me out. But not all dairy is dirty.

The milk and butter that we buy is from grass fed cows that are given no hormones or antibiotics. They are not milked 24/7 and they do not get sick and sore from mistreatment. I wish that I had my own cow in the backyard that I could go outside and milk everyday!

I don't think God would want us to eat and drink much of what the store tries to sell us nowadays. And I doubt that our "technological advancements" have done anything to improve our health, it seems that people usually just buy junk to satisfy their gut.

I used to use the Earth Balance brand spreads, and they are much healthier than Country Crock, but they are still less natural with more ingredients and processing (in butter you have 2--cream and salt). I would rather have the simple and satisfying pleasure of enjoying real butter.
